While we are still recruiting bakers, we thought it would be time to start meeting some of the early enrollees at the Cupcake Camp! Kristina will be bringing 96 of her homemade delicious treats!
Are you a pro or amateur baker? – Currently I am an amateur baker, I am currently in culinary school.
What type of cupcake will you be bringing to Cupcake Camp Dallas? –I am bringing my super ooey gooey Caramel Macchiato cupcake. It is an espresso infused vanilla cupcake filled with a scrumptious caramel sauce and topped with an amazing vanilla bean Swiss meringue buttercream and drizzled with caramel.
Why do you want to be part of Cupcake Camp Dallas? –I have read all about the Cupcake Camps on Cupcakes Take the Cake and have been just dying for it to come here! I love to bake and I love to see people enjoy the food I have prepared for them, I make some really mean cupcakes and I cannot wait to share them with everyone! (it doesn’t hurt that this is great marketing too!) I am also super excited about the competition part because I love a good competition ( I think that’s a chef thing!)
What makes a great cupcake?- I absolutely do NOT like dense heavy cupcakes! I love a moist, decadent, light cupcake with some sort of filling on the inside for the surprise factor, and just the right amount of frosting on top,
What’s your favorite cupcake flavor? – I love a good, rich, chocolate cupcake. Topped with some ganache and chocolate curls. YUM!
Do you have a favorite cupcake memory? I don’t want to sound brass but I think it was when I finally got my caramel macchiato cupcake right. I have at least one caramel macchiato (drink) a day and I wanted to incorporate all the things I love about the drink into a cupcake, I tried a couple of different things until, voila! The Caramel macchiato was born!
Got a good cupcake tip? The frosting cannot overpower the cake, it has to complement it. I’ve had way too many cupcakes where the frosting was too sweet or just not right. The cupcake should be about the cake, light, moist and delicious-the frosting is really just a bonus.
