Cupcakes for a Cause was started in 2011 by the Okada family as a fun way to bring the Dallas community together to raise money for LEAP. What’s Cupcakes for a Cause? This sweet family event benefiting LEAP takes place at University Park United Methodist Church in Dallas on April 29 from 11 – 2. Cupcake bakers compete to receive trophies/ribbons, and guests enjoy delicious cupcakes, cupcake-eating contests, cupcake decorating, face painting, outdoor activities, and much more! All proceeds from the event support LEAP Global Missions, a a Dallas-based 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that provides free specialized surgical care to children living in impoverished regions around the world. Cupcakes for a Cause was a HUGE SUCCESS! We are so grateful to the following: Highland Capital Management and the Okada Family Foundation for each providing matching grants, our 20 host committee members, 42 volunteers, 4 judges, wonderful bakers, generous sponsors, and all participants who made this such a wonderful event. Congratulations to our raffle and drawing winners! Mary Becton-Crouse won the Razor Hot Mod Mini Electric Scooter, and the two Triumph Sports Summer Camp certificates go to Allison Bowen and Jenny Halvorsen! Thanks again to everyone who attended the event. We’ll see you in 2017!
We’re off to a sweet start in planning our 5th annual Cupcakes for a Cause! Our first meeting was held on January 22. A great big thank you to the Okada family and Haley May for sharing so much over the past five years. Your generosity has helped to change the lives of many children.
